Music Therapy is Best Thing for Alzheimer's, Dementia and Nursing Homes

This is not Alexis but she chose it as a picture that looks close to what she looks like.

This is about using music therapy on people that have Alzheimer's, dementia or people that live in nursing homes. Below is a very small sample of what I saw. It said that people like to keep beat to music, including little kids, but that is not the case with chimps. It has a better effect on the above people than anything else including medication.

They showed one guy who had a past that was rich in music. He was injured and lied in bed all day. Then they added some music and everything changed for the better. He remembered many memories that are associated with music. One old lady was seen staying in her walker all day for 5 days. Then she got control of music and got out of her walker and started dancing.

Now Alexis is a super genius who is 22 years old and she is in her third year of medical school. She could have skipped 3 years of high school but her parents did want her going to college at 12 years old. You can learn more about her by reading what I posted 2 times ago. Now here is an example of how she looks at high school. She said that high school is so easy that her brother's cat could graduate!

She is very proficient in musical instruments and will sit down and play one musical instrument for hours. So music is even important to her. At one hospital that she was learning at, she came in early and played the piano. A woman that was working there questioned her about playing the piano. The boss of the hospital came out of the office and told the woman that Alexis was playing the piano with his full authority.

He let Alexis know that it was important to him to hear her play every morning. So even a doctor that is in charge of a hospital has the music of Alexis as a high priority in his life.

As far the experience that she has had with music, here is a blog post from 2010 when she was about 15 years old. It has been a big part of her life. Beside being a super genius, she also plays music by ear. So she can hear it and then she can play it.

Here are 2 more stories about the importance of music. One guy when was only 3 years old when he heard this music that sounded wonderful to him. He crawled toward it and when he got to the source it, he cried.

One musician was going to heal about 100 women in Africa because they were traumatized. He played them some sad flute music to release the pain. Then he had sing some happy songs and he stopped but they were still singing after 3 hours.

A Mom to Brag About

Alexis is on the right

After I wrote the post yesterday, I came across this one. I was actually looking for the one where Alexis saved her mother's life when she was only 6 years old. That is one of the best stories I have ever read. I will get to that one as soon as I can. There is no way for her to get mono as is usually known.

In this story I guess that Alexis is around 16 years old. She gets mono so she can't come to school. So her mother goes to her classes and takes notes. Now if that is not great enough, in one of the classes a boy does not understand what is being taught. So her mother explains it to him. To learn more about her super genius daughter, read the last post.

The professor overheard this so he questioned her about her credentials. It says:
She has doctorates in music, as well as educational and clinical and psychology. To make a long story short, my professor handed his dry erase marker over to my mom, who finished his lecture for him.
This is a short story but is worth reading. It also evens out the other story about her mother. It was not as much about her mother as it was a statement about parenting in this country. Here is the story:

Bringing Up Children in a Healthy and Happy Way

Alexis as a baby.

I am going to try something different here. Instead of emailing a reply to Alexis in her blog, I am going to put it in my blog because maybe others can benefit from my opinion. Although if she does not like it then I will have to delete it or edit it, since she is the boss.

A little background on her. Most medical school students go there from ages 23 to 27. She is 22 and in her third year of medical school. She could have skipped 3 more years of high school but her parents did not want her going to college at age 12. So she is a super genius. Her father is an M.D. and her mother has degrees in teaching, psychology and music.

So here is her post from her blog that I am talking about.

My Mommy

Here is my response to it. Yes, in this country they follow that parenting idea of the parent being the absolute dictator that comes Nazi Germany. My mother also followed it. In fact the way that one shows that they are good Christian is that they say that they are a God-fearing Christian. Yet if you know the bible or look it up, you will see that Jesus said that fear is a bad thing to have. Also the more fear you have, the less happiness you have. There is a saying, The coward dies a thousand deaths, while the courageous man dies only once.

Also if you watch Star Wars, you know that there is a connection between fear and anger. Also Jesus did like those emotions. So what if your mother did not argue with you that you said was a waste of time and had an attitude that it would be okay if your dress got dirty. There is a simple solution to it like changing your dress. It is not like getting cancer and dying of it.

Attachment parenting came from a group of what Christians would call Godless savages in South America that have been bringing up children the same way for tens of thousands of years. They never told the children what to do, in the Yequana village. Also the children were in very dangerous situations but never got in accidents. So my question is are accidents really accidental? Or is it the anxiety of the parents causing them.

So on the TV show Kung Fu a child of about 12 was growing up a Shaolin monastery. He had to learn something like walking a balance beam until he mastered it. Then his test was to walk on this piece wood across this pool of acid. He could see the bones of other children in the pool that did not make. So the child starts to walk across with fear and fell into the pool of deadly acid. But he was not harmed since it was only water. His master said that it was his fear that pulled him into the pool. So for the aggravation that your mother caused you, you gave her the scare of her life. You can call that karma.

Also don't think that the more you know and the more intelligent you are, the less fun it is to be with kids. You are just using a different part of your brain. I did not mention that Alexis is very proficient at playing many instruments and also can learn lines in a part quickly to sing and dance in a play. So imagine someone saying that they are a great brain surgeon so it was a waste of time to play music.

Now what if your mother were the savoir of the world. Would she think that she was too good to waste her time with children? Actually that happened with Jesus and his students were quickly getting rid of the children. Then Jesus said that they should stop and if they want to go to heaven, they should be like little children. Also the adults in the Yequana village never grew out of being children.

That was illustrated in this story. The villagers and Americans had to carry canoes through the jungle that is very 'stressful' work. The Americans got stressed out doing it. The natives did the same work and yet they had fun doing it and telling jokes while doing it. In fact the psychologist Dr. Wayne Dyer says that there is no stress, only stressful thoughts.

In your post, Alexis, you said that you were pressing down the glass because you were afraid of your mother. I want my kids to love me not to fear me. In fact since you are studying psychology, there is a mental disease where people will fear and love their kidnappers. Maybe it will be on your test. Wikipedia says:

Stockholm syndrome is a condition that causes hostages to develop a psychological alliance with their captors as a survival strategy during captivity.[1] These feelings, resulting from a bond formed between captor and captives during intimate time spent together, are generally considered irrational in light of the danger or risk endured by the victims.

Here is something about children from Jean Liedloff:
It took some time before the significance of what I was looking at sank into my "civilized" mind. I had spent more than two years living in the jungles of South America with Stone Age Indians. Little boys traveled with us when we enlisted their fathers as guides and crew, and we often stayed for days or weeks in the villages of the Yequana Indians where the children played all day unsupervised by adults or adolescents. It only struck me after the fourth of my five expeditions that I had never seen a conflict either between two children or between a child and an adult. Not only did the children not hit one another, they did not even argue.
Note they are called Indians because Columbus thought that America was India, but it never was.

The Many Banes of My Existence by Alexis: Peyton Place in the Great White North

The Many Banes of My Existence by Alexis: Peyton Place in the Great White North This is a great story like Dr. David Duo. A third year medical student went to sleep in the hospital lounge after working 94 hours. She was waken up and thrown out since they thought her I.D. was a fake. Then more things happen and she gets home and there is a stranger in her bed. She calls the #police and read rest. Must read!

Science Shows Best Food Groups to Eat for Health

From 5 Delicious Ways to Eat More Fruits and Veggies Everyday.

The most important part of this very short article comes at the end of this from Michael Greger M.D. He reads every study on done on health and lifestyle so we don't have to. When you eat animals, they have to die or get hurt. When you eat plant foods, they have to die or get hurt, but the one exception is fruits. This part of the plant if not eaten comes off of the plant anyway. That is why nuts and seeds are hard fruits. There are over 10,000 edible fruits.

There are no people that eat only meat or grains or only vegetables, but there are people that only eat fruits. They are called fruitarians. The remains (feces) of paleolithic people show that they ate mostly fruits (see video). Also other foods take hours to digest whereas fruits pass through the stomach in about 15 minutes. So it takes a lot less energy to digest fruit. This is why you should eat fruit first. Now here is what Dr. Greger says (this has entire article that also talks about high blood pressure) that is so important to health that it is why I made this article.
On the other hand, eating more whole grains could save 1.7 million lives [in America]. And more vegetables could save 1.8 million lives every year. If only we ate more nuts and seeds, we’d save 2 and a half million lives. But fruit is apparently what the world needs most (they didn’t look at beans) with 4.9 million lives hanging in the balance every year. The cure is not drugs or vaccines; the cure is fruit. The #1 dietary risk factor for death in the world may be not eating enough fruit.
Michael Greger, M.D. FACLM, is a physician, New York Times bestselling author, and internationally recognized professional speaker on a number of important public health issues. Dr. Greger has lectured at the Conference on World Affairs, the National Institutes of Health, and the International Bird Flu Summit, testified before Congress, appeared on The Dr. Oz Show and The Colbert Report, and was invited as an expert witness in defense of Oprah Winfrey at the infamous "meat defamation" trial.
Ancient dietary practices based on analyzing the fiber content of fossilized human waste can give us insights for combatting the modern obesity epidemic. Isn’t that a really fascinating mechanism? All along I was thinking of fiber more from just an energy density perspective, but the appetite-suppressing hormones are a whole new frontier. That underscores the urgency of the fact that 96% of Americans don’t even reach the recommended minimum intake of fiber. This video shows that our paleo or paleolithic ancestors ate mostly fruit according to analysis of their fossilized human waste.

Coronary heart disease, our #1 cause of death, was found to be almost non-existent in a population eating a diet centered around whole plant foods. This also shows that before foods like candy bars existed they did not have tooth brushes and dental floss There were also no cavities.

See Fruits are the Best Tasting and Healthiest Foods.

Salt is not a food. It is only in foods made by man. WebMD says that consuming salt is worse for health than smoking.

Cutting Salt as Good as Quitting Smoking

Dr. Greger says that salt kills over 1,000 Americans a day. See 5 minute video below.

Dr. Greger says "I’ve badly neglected sodium on NutritionFacts.org, but that’s all going to change. I have about a dozen salt videos queued up that dive deep into the existing controversies. It’s such an enormous topic that it was a bit intimidating at first. There are more than 8,000 (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed?te...) articles on the topic in the medical literature, but that’s what you have me for!"

Saguaro Jane's Website Wittman, AZ

The purpose of this is to make this community center accessible to the internet. This center is located at 21802 W Wilson Ave in Wittman, Arizona 85361. It is part of the Association of Arizona Food Banks. Here is their website with some Spanish. They have about 40 pounds of free food available every Thursday 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM to low income families of 1 or more people. To get the above you need a card that is given out at the beginning of every year and then as new people learn about it. Even people on social security can get this.

This year (2017) cards were given out at the center for people with last names beginning with A through G on Wednesday, January 25 at 9:00 AM through 12:00 noon. Bring proof of income if you have it. For last names starting with letters H through L come to the center on Wednesday, February 1 between 9:00 AM through 12:00 noon. Each day has the same times.

For last names that begin with letters M through Q come on Wednesday, February 8 to the center. For last names that begin with letters R through V come on Wednesday, February 15. For last names that begin with letters W through Z, come on Wednesday, February 22. You should also have 2 forms of identification with one (or something else like a mailing) with your street address.

Now on the other website you will see you can come in and get mostly dry goods on every 3rd Monday of the month. You do not need a card for this. Just bring in 2 forms of identification (one with street address) every time you come. I believe there is no proof of income with this. Also on that day at the same time you can also get a big box of dry goods if you are 60 years old or older and are signed up. To get signed up see Sherri Lamb, the president of it and she will fill out a form and send it to the government. Then in about a month you will know if you were approved. Bring proof of income to Sherri.

Here is a 2011 article on them that tells a lot.

Is the Media Misleading You About Bernie Sanders

At first it was recognized that the media was ignoring Bernie Sanders. Maybe if they ignored him, people would forget about him. That did not work so now they are trying to mislead people. This is specifically talking about the Democratic Primary on March 22 with 3 states including Arizona, Idaho and Utah.

First it was saying that since Arizona is bigger than Utah and Idaho combined then if one wins Arizona then they come out ahead even if they lose the other two. That is a lie or a mispeak. What person is famous for saying that they mispoke? Trump never says that. What matters is not what states you win. What matters is the number of delegates you get. So for example if someone wins Arizona and gets one more delegate and they lose Utah and Idaho get almost none of the delegates, then they lose very big in those 3 states.

Here is an example. First articles should start out with how many delegates each candidate won. But they do not. That is too factual. They want to put their own personal spin on it. That is what is important, the spin, not the facts. So here is the example. It was big news that Clinton won Missouri. She won it so it does not matter how close it is or how many delegates they got.

So Clinton is the winner and Sanders is the loser. Now if you are going to not mention the delegates, it would be more factual to say that they tied. They do not give out fractions of a delegate. So remember Clinton won and Sanders lost. The facts are that Clinton got 49.6% of the vote and Sanders got 49.4%. Now if what counts is other things then you could say that Clinton won. So Clinton got 34 delegates and Sanders got 34 delegates. So Clinton won 34 to 34. Does that sound right to you? Does it? In other words Sanders lost 34 to 34.

Now if you look at the facts then Clinton lost in Idaho and Utah. I can't find the delegate count but Clinton got 21% in one state and 20% in the other. Now that is about one-fifth or one out of five. Now that is factual but you can say that is terrible. So what about Arizona. There was a terrible case of voter suppression. Many waited over 3 hours in line, if they have nothing they had to do. Some waited until after 12:00 AM or midnight. Then many were told they were not registered under the democratic party, even life-long democrats, so that meant they coul not vote. Some were told they were registered as Independents, Libertarian or no party. See Something Is Going Seriously Wrong at Arizona Polls Today.

They even had one lady on video who went in and asked about it and they told her the computer changed what she was registered as! Using the percentages that the candidates won and the number of delegates I figured that Sanders won from the 3 states a lot more delegates than Clinton even if you ignore the huge voter problems in Arizona. Note that the demographics say that white young people under 30 heavily favor Sanders and if you look at many lines you will see that is what the lines mostly are. See the latest on AZ lawmakers to hold special hearing on elections fiasco.

Now here is an example of an article by USA Today called Hillary Clinton wins Arizona primary, as Bernie Sanders takes Utah, Idaho. It starts with:
Hillary Clinton won the pivotal presidential contest in Arizona Tuesday, prevailing over rival Bernie Sanders in the latest in a string of primary victories for the Democratic front-runner.
Tom Gagen, a 66-year-old Independent from Scottsdale, said he voted for Clinton because of her experience.
There is no mention that the Arizona voting is under investigation.

Bernie Sanders wants 4 years of free college. Hillary Clinton wants no free college. To make our country a better place and to be more competitive in the world President Obama and Vice President Joe Biden want 2 years of free college.

At one speech Sanders was talking about free college in countries. A guy raised his hand. He said that actually in Scandinavia not only is college free but they actually pay the students to go to college!
